Isaiah 47:8

Therefore hear now this, given to pleasures, that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in your heart, I , and none else beside me; I shall not sit a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children:

Context

6 I was wroth with my people, I have polluted mine inheritance, and given them into your hand: you didst shew them no mercy; upon the ancient hast you very heavily laid your yoke.

7 And you saidst, I shall be a lady for ever: that you didst not lay these to your heart, neither didst remember the latter end of it.

8 Therefore hear now this, given to pleasures, that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in your heart, I , and none else beside me; I shall not sit a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children:

9 But these two shall come to you in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood: they shall come upon you in their perfection for the multitude of your sorceries, for the great abundance of your enchantments.

10 For you hast trusted in your wickedness: you hast said, None seeth me. your wisdom and your knowledge, it has perverted you; and you hast said in your heart, I , and none else beside me.
